Sunday Message for July 14, 2019

Asa the summer sun continues to heat up our city with its solar power, we are heating up with our "Soul-ar" Power - note the spelling!

Charles Fillmore's definition of Power in the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary says: "The mind and the body of man have power to transform energy from one plane of consciousness to another."b So it is the energy by which everything lives. Every one of us is tapped into, in fact filled with, the energy by which everything lives. Every one of us has -- is -- at the depths of our souls the power by which everything lives.

Emma Curtis Hopkins -- a woman who knew about spiritual power once said: "We have unlimited POWER. If we do not USE that power, it does not alter the fact that it is our INHERITANCE."c

It is that Divine energy, that Divine power, we are tapping into this month.

Today we are looking at concept of the POWER IN ASKING.

Emilie-Cady writes in Lessons in Truth: "True asking reaches beyond the limits of human thinking for it recognizes, through the perception of faith, the good that is ours for the claiming."d

This idea was not new to Emilie-Cady! It probably wasn't new to the Master Teacher Jesus either, but he articulated it pretty well at Matthew 7:7 when he said: "Ask, and it shall be given unto you, seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you. For whoever asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds, and to him who knocks, the door is opened."e

And then Jesus went on to make a pretty powerful analogy and promise when he said: "Is there a man among you, who, when his son asks him for bread, will hand him a stone? Or if he should ask him for fish, will he hand him a snake? If therefore you who err know how to give good gifts to your sons, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?"f

The definition of prayer in the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary says: "Jesus advised asking for what we want, and being steadfast in our demands. People ignorant of the relation in which man stands to God wonder why we should ask, and even importune, a Father who has provided all things for us. This is explained when we perceive that God is a great reservoir of mind that has to be tapped by man's mind, and through his thought or word poured into visibility. If the mind of man is clogged with doubt, lethargy, or fear, he must, through his faithful knocking and asking, open the way. We should "pray without ceasing." We should continue "steadfastly in prayer." g"

So, let me ask you this -- Have you ever been in a relationship and wanted something, but didn't want to ask outright? So you hemmed and hawed, dropping hints and clues. Perhaps you even get upset when your friend or partner didn't pick up on what you thought were your oh-so-obvious hints! Anyone ever done that? OK, anyone know of someone who's ever done that?

Then, have you ever finally actually come right out and asked for what you want and gotten this response: "Of course! All you had to do was ask!"

Kind of like this . . .

There are several men sitting around in the locker room of a private club after exercising. Suddenly a cell phone on one of the benches rings. One of the men picks it up, and the following conversation ensues: "Hello?"

"Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?" "Yes."

"Great! I am at the mall two blocks from where you are. I just saw a beautiful mink coat. It's absolutely gorgeous!! Can I buy it?" "What's the price?"

"Only $15,000." "Well, OK, go ahead and get it, if you like it that much..."

"Ahhh, and I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the 2019 models. I saw one I really liked. I spoke with the salesman, and he gave me a really good price...and since we need to exchange the BMW that we bought last year anyway..." "What price did he quote you?"

"Only $100,000..." "OK, but for that price I want it with all the options."

"Great! But before we hang up, something else. It might sound like a lot, but...I stopped by the real estate agent this morning and saw the house we had looked at last year. Remember? The one with a pool, English Garden, acre of park area, beachfront property. Well, They've reduced the price!!" "How much are they asking now?"

"Only $1.5 million - a magnificent price..."
"Well, then go ahead and buy it!"

"OK, sweetie...Thanks! I'll see you later!! I love you!!!" "Bye...I do too..."

The man hangs up, closes the phone's flap, and raises his hand while holding the phone and asks to all those present: "Does anyone know whose phone this is?"

Well, OK, not quite like that, but you get the point - ASK directly and specifically!

Here's the Truth -- the Universe, Source Energy, Spirit, or any other name you want to give to God, wants to give us everything. In fact, the Universe is conspiring for your good. Do you know that? It's true. The Universe is conspiring for your good. Let's make that statement personal and say it together: The Universe is conspiring for MY good!

All you have to do is ASK, believing and it is done unto you! We've all heard that before - and many of us probably interpreted that to mean BEG GOD (Santa Claus) in prayer....

Today I want us to have a clearer understanding about the process of asking.

Quantum physics now teaches us that when we give something our attention and it becomes our dominant focus, we set up an attracting vibration relative to what we are giving our attention to -- that is what I mean by the word "ASK." We have the power to co-create that which is the focus of our intention and attention.

Here's how it goes. We are constantly sending forth desires in life, whether we verbalize them, or not. Every time we think - "I like this," "I don't like that;" "that feels good;" "that doesn't;" "I'd rather this not be happening," we are sending forth a desire. This is what I mean by ASKING. And the entire Universe is established to help you give birth to that which we focus on.

What confuses most of us about this is that we have not learned to be discriminating in that which we are giving our attention to. When we see something that we want, and we say, "Yes, yes, more of that," what's actually happening, not by our saying yes to it, but by our attention to it, we are including that vibration in our mix, which means, the Law of Attraction acts upon our vibration and we get more of that which we say "yes" to.

But when we see those things that we do not want, and we shout "no" at them-we also set up a strong vibration through our focus and attention and the Law of Attraction goes to work just the same. So, when we say "no" to something it's really the same as saying "yes" to it. Yes means yes, and no means yes -- energetically.

Whatever you give your attention to means yes. Whatever you give your attention to is what I mean today by ASKING! Puts a new light on the phrase "You're asking for trouble," doesn't it?!

God's Law "receives the direct impress of our thoughts" and our feelings and acts upon them - says YES. - Whatever is your vibration - whatever is your continued feeling or thought - that will be manifest in your life.

Reconcile this with the idea that the "Universe is conspiring for our good."

So how can we NOT ask for those experiences we don't wish to have into our lives? Well, there is a light way of saying no to things, like you do at a smorgasbord of food: "I will have some of that, and I will have some of this, and I will have some of this." But have you ever, at a buffet line, gotten upset about the stuff you don't want on your plate? Have you ever ranted and raved: "I can't believe they have the nerve to put sauerkraut in this buffet line!? I've never been so offended in my life. This is just terrible. Come on, let's go!"

Of course not. How ridiculous. You just accept that you don't have to put it on your plate. But in the smorgasbord of life, most of us do get all bent out of shape about those things we don't want in our lives, we put lots of attention on them, we talk about them, we think about them, as if, if we could shout "no" loud enough, or push hard enough, we could keep those things out of our experience. And Law of Attraction (that which is like unto itself is drawn) says you can't.

The harder you push against something, the more you vibrate in harmony with it, and the more you vibrate in harmony with it, the more Law of Attraction yields it to you. Not because you're bad or unworthy or deserve bad things, but because your power to create is so strong.

So, given our new definition of asking, what are you asking for in your life right now? What you really want is to be happy and to stay there. Right? And, the Universe, Spirit, God wants that for you as well.

Jesus said it: "I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly." This is your birthright! Your well-being is your legacy. Well-being is what is natural to you.

And anything less than absolute well-being, which means anything less than passion, anything less than clarity, anything less than eagerness, anything less than exhilaration, anything less than perfect vitality, anything less than abundance and prosperity relative to all things that you desire, anything less than that means only one thing:

You've picked up some habits of thought-that you are holding as beliefs-that are pinching off the well-being that would be there otherwise. It means your ASKING is a little off!

So, what can you do?!

Well, continuing our smorgasbord analogy, it's time we begin to use our POWER in ASKING by looking at just what we want; really looking, meaning seeing it done before it actually is done. And even before you take action to get where you want to go, see yourself already there.

Imagine the finished place of being there. Imagine the thrill of being there. Get excited about being there. Feel like you're there more than you're here.

Do the mental work first, and then take the inspired action. Because when you take an action to try to correct something that is wrong, all the action does is amplify what is wrong. There's not enough action in the world to compensate for your vibration.

Often, I have spoken of knowing the WHAT and then letting the Universe/God figure out the how. Seek the feeling, and let the Universe determine the best way to manifest that feeling.

Here's a metaphor that may make that clearer.

Imagine that you are the owner of a huge corporation. There are a hundred thousand people who work at various stages and places in this corporation, and you are the one who created it. You imagined it. You saw the need for it. You dreamed it. You found vibrational harmony with your dream. And now it's yours.

And there are thousands of employees. Some of them don't know how to use their computers. Some don't know how to file very well. Some can't seem to get along with others. Some are catching on and others aren't. There's a constant turnover of people, they're in and out, they're squabbling over parking places, some have windows, some don't. It's an immense organization.

And you have a manager that is just incredible. Because this manager takes care of all of this, you don't have to deal with anything. You get an idea, and you express it softly. And the manager says, "Consider it done." You get another idea and you envision it, and your manager says, "Consider it done." You have such an extraordinary manager that you are free.

You're not dealing with the nitty gritty in the parking lot, not dealing with raises or vacations, you're not worried about any of this stuff. You are the visionary. And you have a manager that deals with it effectively and perfectly. And you count your lucky stars, every day that you found this manager.

Sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Well, you have such a manager in your life - and it's called the Law of Attraction. But most of us don't know that we have that manager. And so, we keep thinking that we need to step into those many roles and be the facilitator. And then we get bogged down in all that nitpicking, nitty gritty stuff that doesn't have anything to do with who we really are or with our vision.

And so, keep telling the "manager" what you want. Not because the manager (called Law of Attraction) needs to hear it, but because every time you talk about it, and every time you come into vibrational harmony with it-you open your consciousness so that the Universe can yield to you a little bit more of what it already knows you want.

If you are inspired by these ideas and analogies, I would highly recommend reading Ask and It is Given by Esther Hicks. That book was a great influence on me for this morning.

One more important element to this idea of "asking." Along with knowing what you really want, it is important to understand what your Spirit really needs. When stating your request, you must understand and honor the concept of "integral need." Look for a moment at the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes.

The people in the crowd experienced a miraculous manifestation of food. But they were not present at the site of the miracle with the INTENTION of being fed. Not physically fed any way. They were there because they were seeking spiritual food. During the natural course of their search, they became hungry. In other words, their hunger was an integral part of a far more important purpose.

We are told: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, then all things will be added unto you!"h

That is why the process of Visioning is so important. It helps you tap into what Spirit in and through you is calling you to do and be. And it always comes down to expressing more of God!

There is a power for good in the Universe and you can use it to create more good!

So, my friends -- I have a mission for you - should you choose to accept it. Your mission is to have a smorgasbord approach to life this week. If you see something in your life that you don't like -- treat it like I would treat the sauerkraut on the buffet table. Thank you, I'll pass.

And focus on -- meaning, give your attention to, speak only about, accept and receive (ASK!) -- only that which you desire in your life, thereby setting up the energetic vibration to attract more of that into your life!

Lessons In Truth by Emilie-Cady: ""There is no power but of God and the powers that be are ordained of God."i (Rom. 13:1). As we have already said, God is omnipotence, All-Power, or the only power. Every expression of power with which we are familiar originates in and proceeds from the power idea in Divine Mind. Power is the moving force of the universe expressed as vitality, energy, mastery, in a degree that accords with the capacity of the channel through which it acts."j

And all we've got to do is ASK! And so it is.
