Sunday Message for June 28, 2020

PRAYER: We call upon God's Love in this important moment, knowing that Divine Love is the greatest power in the Universe. We pray for the wounded heart of humanity as we grieve, rage, cry, and despair over injustice and inequity. May Divine Love enfold and comfort everyone who is hurting. May Divine Wisdom guide each person and institution in taking inspired action to ensure that all are celebrated for their inherent goodness as a part of God's creation. May we remain resolute in walking the course of human rights and social justice for all. We pray in the spirit of unity, love, and oneness. AMEN.

This month we have LEAPT -- LEAPT into a fuller expression of our own Divine Power & Magnificence; a greater experience of connection, aliveness, happiness, love, creativity and abundance; and a life that is simply easier . . .
. . . in other words, we have leapt into our Zone of Geniusa - really our God Zone -- following the profound guidance provided in this book, The Big Leap: Conquer your Hidden Fears and Take Life to the Next Level by Gay Hendricks.

Expressing our Genius is expressing God, expressing Good - where we are productive, happy, on purpose, a blessing to the world.

We have a tremendous example of those living in their Zone of Genius every week here - Cynthia and Maxine, it is so obvious that you are doing what you came here to do! We can't wait to have you back in church services.

This has been a very impactful month for me, and I know for many of you as well. I am curious - how many of you have been with us all 4 Sundays? Congratulations and way to go!

Once you have broken free of the Upper Limit Problem (or are aware of it and working on it!), you've committed to living in your Zone of Genius and you have begun to get clarity on what that Zone is for you, your job is to learn to live in your Zone all the time.

Hendricks describes this as a delicate tightrope walk, which eventually gets easier as you master the skills required to keep your balance in your new environment. Fortunately, he does not leave us hanging and offers us some shortcuts learned by trial and error experiences of hundreds of people he has worked with over the years.

You know the power of trial and error, don't you?

One time an interviewer asked a successful businessman to what he attributed his success. The businessman replied: Two words -- "right decisions."

Interviewer: How do you make right decisions?

Businessman: One word - Experience.

Interviewer: How do you get experience?

Businessman: Two words -- wrong decisions.

So this morning we will learn from those who have gotten experience! Our three shortcuts to living in your Zone of Genius - your God Zone -- are:
Using the ultimate success mantra;
Unleashing the power of the Enlightened No; and
Living in Einstein Time.

Using the Ultimate Success Mantra.

What is a mantra?

As students of Unity, we all know the power of our thoughts and our words. We all know that what we have in consciousness manifests in our lives. We all know that that is the way Life works!

So let's use the way life works to help us live in our Zone of Genius. Hendricks writes:

"The Ultimate Success Mantra is a comprehensive intention you use to center yourself in your Zone of Genius. It's a set of instructions, for your conscious and your subconscious mind to chew on, designed to inform all of your actions and decisions. If you use the Ultimate Success Mantra as instructed, your life will gradually conform to the comprehensive intention contained within it. . . . I want you to mount a gentle but unstoppable offensive against [old] conditioning, and the Universal Success Mantra is the best way I've found to do that."b

You're probably thinking "enough already with the explanation - what is it?!" OK, here it is: "I expand in abundance, success, and love every day as I inspire those around me to do the same."

How simple, yet how profound. This mantra directly counters whatever your Upper Limit Problem may be. This mantra is like an antidote to years of conditioning and programming that convinced you that you don't deserve/can't attain full success.

Use it 2 ways:
Meditation - which we will do in a little bit.
In your daily life - repeat it and make it a part of your daily thought stream - use 3x5 cards, sticky notes placed in strategic locations as reminders.

Learning the Power of the Enlightened No

The second shortcut to living in Your Zone of Genius is the Enlightened No. It's a very simply concept, not so simple to implement. You produce an Enlightened No when you turn down something that doesn't fit into your Zone of Genius.

It's called an Enlightened No because you're saying no in service to a bigger yes, which is your Genius. You're saying no because you've chosen to focus on activities that are clearly in your Zone.

We could all benefit from taking a careful look at the number of things we say yes to, things that do not fit clearly in the Zone. Even if they seem beneficial for other reasons, those requests can eat up a great deal of energy that could be better invested in expressing your genius.

Each time you say an Enlightened No to something that does not serve your Genius, you build a stronger foundation for yourself in the Zone.

Living in Einstein Time

Finally, for your life to work harmoniously, you need to develop a harmonious relationship with time. Creating time for the full expression of Genius.

Old Paradigm: Newtonian Time
The Newtonian paradigm says that there is only a finite amount of time and it must be carefully portioned out so there will be enough of it to do the things we need to do. This paradigm looks at time outside of us, separate from us, and assumes there is either a scarcity of time, which leads to an uncomfortable feeling of time urgency inside us, or too much of it, which leads to boredom and frustration.

If you've ever thought that way about time, join the club! It's a very large one, and I'm a charter member. There is hope, however, because while the Newtonian view is where most of us start, it is not how time actually works. Newtonian time scarcity is just a stage we are passing through, just as Newtonian physics was a stage we passed through on the way to Einstein's breakthrough.

New Paradigm - Einstein Time
Einstein's simplified explanation of the Theory of Relativity: An hour with your beloved feels like a minute, while a minute on a hot stove feels like an hour. Which says that the passage of time is not what is really relevant, it's how we perceive it.

And if we realize who we really are -- as an expression of the Source of all there is - then, the source of time is within me. Time is an effect. It is not something that affects me. I create it.

The shift to Einstein Time takes place the moment you embrace one profoundly simple truth:
You are where time comes from.

Say with me: "I am where time comes from! I have the power to make as much time as I want."

Gregg Braden in The Isaiah Effect, "Time and Group Will" tells the story of arriving in a bus from Mount Sinai to Cairo, Egypt, that should have taken seven hours, but actually took a little more than half that amount of time. Braden writes: "Though the distance between Mt. Sinai and Cairo had not changed, our experience of time while we traveled the distance had. It was recorded on the wristwatches of every military man, armed guard and passenger on the bus. It was as if our memories of the day, in the presence of one another, had somehow been squeezed into an experience a fraction of the time expected. Where was the rest of our time? Clearly we were not aware of the phenomenon when it was occurring. The questions are, how did it happen and why? Perhaps herein we find the clue. In our innocence of anticipating the experiences within the pyramids and speaking of the experiences as if we were already there inside the ancient chambers our awareness had shifted from how long the trip was taking to what it felt like to be there."c

Quit thinking about time as "out there." Take ownership of time - acknowledge that you are where it comes from - and it will stop owning you.

The first way to do this is to go on a complaint diet - we've heard that before, haven't we? But this time it relates specifically to time!

Notice in your conversations. How often do you say things like:
I wish I had time to stop and chat, but I'm in a hurry.
Where did the time go?
There simply aren't enough hours in the day?
If only I'd gotten another hour of sleep.
Love to talk, but gotta run!
I have to get to the bank.
I don't have time to do that right now.

Each of those statements contains an overt or covert complaint, making us the victim of time, and I have used every single one of them - probably as recently as last week! They treat time as a scarce commodity, sending the message that time is "out there" and that there isn't enough of it "in here."

Hendricks says that each statement is a mini-whimper of misery, a claim that time is the whip master and we're its hapless galley slaves, rowing desperately to stay ahead of the lash.

The moment you stop complaining about time and start realizing you are the producer of time, your Zone of Genius has a greater area in which to roam!

Living in your Zone of Genius - it's where you are meant to be. It's where you will be the happiest; it's where you will be most deliciously blessed; and it is where your gifts and talents will bless the world!

I want to end out time together today and our time spent on taking the BIG LEAP by returning to the Ultimate Success Mantra. Hendricks said to use it two ways.
     1. Meditation - which we are going to do right now.
     2. In your daily life - repeat it and make it a part of your daily thought stream - 3x5 cards, sticky notes.

Closing prayer/meditation on the Ultimate Success Mantra:

          a. Whisper the Ultimate Success Mantra softly to yourself: "I expand in abundance, success, and love every day as I inspire those around me to do the same."

          b. Pause and rest with an open mind for 10 seconds, about two easy breaths.

          c. In this brief time of silence, allow the backtalk, the "yeah-buts" to surface. Just notice them without judgment.

          d. Repeat one more time.

Charles and Cora Fillmore write in Teach Us To Pray: "God is Spirit. In creation Spirit takes the form of mind, implanting itself in substance and becoming manifest as perfect man."d So the Creative Genius of this Universal Mind is also the creative genius of Its individualization, which is what I am!

We know that God is a Love that has no end and a Power that knows no bounds. God's healing power of Divine Life is restoring, healing, and revitalizing our world in this very moment. We let go of any fears or anxieties, and we affirm that all are safe, healthy, and protected. We bless all those who support us in maintaining vibrant radiant health. We express Divine Life in all we think, say, and do. We bless our global family with radiant health, peace of mind, and abundant love. AMEN
